Working my way through all the confusion, demands, and chaos of daily life, i ask myself: "is this all that life has to offer?"
with a firm disbelief I tell myself "it couldn’t be"; this is because I can FEEL that there is more to life than just fulfilling your responsibilities; running after fulfilling your desires; gaining enormous information just to keep yourself updated about what's happening in the world and try and be smarter than the others; trying to do your best everyday in office; planning vacations and hanging out with friends; and watching movies to enjoy the fantasies they portray.
If you must have observed, we are 'doing' something all the time; when we are not actually 'doing' anything, we are 'thinking'. Technically, this means that we are NEVER doing NOTHING.
I have always seen that most around me KNOW what their inner calling is; or at least i BELIEVE that they think they know it. everyone around me seems to know what they are doing and why, and they are involved in their work with so much 'passion' in order to gain what they want that it makes me question that if they really didn’t have these things to do, would they be different from what they are now and behave differently?
it is THIS inner calling that i am trying to find out for myself but I haven’t been able to do so till now. the prime reason being me not being able to put in the right amount of efforts for it [primarily due to lack of time] and looking for answers in the right direction [primarily because of my own confusion], having a defeatist attitude [taking life as it comes and doing nothing to change it if I am not happy with the way things are shaping up], and procrastination [by telling myself that there is always a tomorrow to do things].
i have read numerous self-help books but they have been of little help. I could give you an analogy here: if you read instructions for swimming in a pool, would you be able to swim just by reading those instructions? Maybe, maybe not. According to me, certainly NOT. The same principle applies to reading self-help books. They may give you an IDEA about what the answers to your questions would be, but they DO NOT have the exact answers, do they? At least I think that they don’t no matter how vividly they explain concepts, ideas, and thoughts.
Now, coming to the chores of daily life. We all perform the tasks we need to do. Have we ever thought of attempting to lift our heads up above these daily chores and think deeply as to where are we headed? Have we come into existence just to work, work and work all the time like donkeys? NO. CERTAINLY NOT.
We need to lift our heads up from our daily lives and FIND TIME to seek answers to the most basic questions that are there in our minds, and try to gain a deeper understanding of our lives.
The answers to our questions will not come from someone else's experiences, thoughts, or knowledge. They have to come from us; from within us. And for gaining these answers, we need to introspect ourselves very deeply, and ask the right questions to ourselves. The answers are there already. It is just a matter of 'knowing' or 'realizing' them.
this kind of introspection reminds me of the days when i used to ponder for hours and question myself "what on earth am i doing?"
ReplyDeletei can neither be a saviour nor a sinister mortal who can either gather inspiration or hatred.
i think as we progress, we got to keep picking things up, like a trail of leftovers to find our way back while heading into the forest.
someday, we shall know it was all worth it.
Hmm...very well said Pelton! Hope you liked my first blog in the first place.

ReplyDeleteNice one Ria ..
ReplyDeleteApplogies for the last one.. my net conn screwed up and it got posted as a blank message !!! So here goes,
Yes its a scientifically proven fact .. " we never do nothing" ..
But what matters if of all the 24 hours given to us, how much gets utilized in doing something that will make a difference to someone, anyone the next day or even later !!
We all know our actions to the most, but how many moments are used analyzing or even considering the implications of these actions..? And hey procrastination isn't all that bad.. if it makes you feel better then even THAT has a purpose .. :)
Hope to see more from you
Kisses
